The Newport office of Martin & Co – the UK’s largest dedicated letting agency, has just won the national award for “Best Young Business” at the company’s annual awards ceremony held in the Midlands on the 25th April 2009.
The award, presented by Martin & Co Founder and Chairman, Richard Martin, celebrates the passion for results and customer service demonstrated by Martin & Co franchise owners husband and wife team Neil and Lisa Williams and their staff, who achieved a staggering monthly average of first lets achieved in 2008 by an office less than two years old. (Last year they also scooped Best Franchise Launch in their first year of trading.)
Commenting on the award, Richard Martin said that Neil and Lisa had not only achieved superb results for hundreds of landlords in Newport and the surrounding areas, but had “instantly embraced everything that Martin & Co stands for – integrity, professionalism and straight-talking, good advice. Letting agency Martin & Co has just been awarded the UK’s “Best Letting Agent” at the Estate and Letting Agency Awards (or ESTAs) in London this week. The prestigious award was presented to Martin & Co’s Managing Director Ian Wilson by media personality and journalist Phil Spencer of Channel 4’s “Location, Location, Location”, who said “these awards are particularly special, and a true reflection of excellence in customer service as they are only awards in the industry which are voted for by the landlords and tenants themselves. They are not easily won, and require a letting agency to achieve a consistently high level of service to their clients over a 12 month period.” Over 30,000 questionnaires were sent out to customers across the UK. On receiving the award, Ian Wilson said “it is a privilege to win such an award, and it is a tribute to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our franchise owners and their staff. We aim only to recruit, and help our franchisees recruit, only the very best in the business – those who care about giving great service! 2009 Landlords Survival Guide Launched
Martin & Co in Newport and Blackwood have just launched their latest update for anyone currently letting, or thinking of letting, a residential property in the area.
The no-nonsense “Survival Guide for Landlords Living in Recessionary Times” offers straight-talking, good advice and is highly relevant for the current market. It certainly pulls no punches and addresses various issues head-on, such as “Do you Own a Disaster?” and “Coping with Voids”. TWO TOP AWARDS FOR MARTIN & CO NEWPORT AND BLACKWOOD
Husband and wife team Neil and Lisa Williams, who together own and run the Newport and Blackwood franchises of the UK’s leading specialist lettings agent Martin & Co, have got plenty to celebrate this week after they were named winners of a top award at the company’s AGM.
Beating off stiff competition from across Martin & Co’s 170+ nationwide network, Neil and Lisa won the coveted Best Franchise Launch title in recognition of the record-breaking success they have achieved in their first year, they also came runners up for the best office of the year.
They were presented with the award by the company’s founder and chairman, Richard Martin, at a glittering award ceremony held at the luxury Bosworth Hall Hotel in Warwickshire on Saturday 26th April 2008.
Martin & Co in Newport first opened its doors for business in April 2007 – since which time it has enjoyed the best-ever start for a new office. In the first 7 months, Neil and Lisa and their team broke all previous records with well in excess of 200 properties let – over half of them fully managed. And this success is continuing. Martin & Co Newport and BLACKWOOD certainly have plenty to celebrate this week after they were named winners of an award run by Voice magazine, which is owned by Newsquest and is Newport’s premier lifestyle magazine with a monthly circulation of 50,000.
The magazine run the annual Smirnoff ’V Awards’ which gives the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite businesses, every award given is based purely on the number of votes received by businesses as voted by the public of Newport. This year’s 36,151 votes were a record breaker for Voice magazine – almost quadrupling last year’s number. Beating off stiff competition from established estate agents in Newport, Martin & Co won the coveted ‘Best Estate Agent of the Year’ award in recognition of the record-breaking success they have achieved over the last year. They were presented with the award by Red Dragon FMs Darren Lee at a rather splendid ceremony at Escapade in Newport City centre on October 16th. The whole event was a great opportunity for the businesses of the city to celebrate their achievements. The office are truly award winners, already this year winning best launch at Martin & Co UKs AGM and out of 150+ offices runner up for best office nationally. Indeed, Martin & Co is now firmly established in the very forefront of the Newport lettings sector. Much of the money required to run the hospice is raised through donations, and as the Voice charity, the V awards provides a great opportunity to give them a helping hand. Businesses had the opportunity to purchase tables at the awards and donate prizes for a raffle, Neil added, “We are extremely pleased to win this award as firstly we had the opportunity to help a good cause with St Anne’s Hospice, we were pleased to purchase a table for our staff and donate a prize to the raffle. Secondly, it was voted by the public, it shows what an impact we have had in such a short space of time, we now have 14 staff dedicated to lettings and the largest office in Newport that deals exclusively with lettings and finally the team had a well deserved night out after all their hard work!” Voice General Manager Chris Evans and Editor Emma Stowell-Corten said “It was fantastic to see all of the votes rolling in for Martin and Co.
