Martin & Co Honoured as Best Letting Agency

Letting agency Martin & Co has just been awarded the UK’s “Best Letting Agent” at the Estate and Letting Agency Awards (or ESTAs) in London this week. The prestigious award was presented to Martin & Co’s Managing Director Ian Wilson by media personality and journalist Phil Spencer of Channel 4’s “Location, Location, Location”, who said “these awards are particularly special, and a true reflection of excellence in customer service as they are only awards in the industry which are voted for by the landlords and tenants themselves. They are not easily won, and require a letting agency to achieve a consistently high level of service to their clients over a 12 month period.” Over 30,000 questionnaires were sent out to customers across the UK. On receiving the award, Ian Wilson said “it is a privilege to win such an award, and it is a tribute to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our franchise owners and their staff. We aim only to recruit, and help our franchisees recruit, only the very best in the business – those who care about giving great service! In a property industry where many sales-based estate agents have recently forayed into lettings out of necessity, this award has clearly demonstrated that landlords and tenants prefer to work with a lettings specialist who will be around next year and the year after. I am especially pleased that it was our customers themselves who voted for us, and I’d like to thank all those who took the trouble by taking part in this independent survey.” This award comes only months after Martin & Co scooped a Franchisor of the Year award at the end of 2008.

Introducing the new letting team

We are delighted to welcome on board and introduce our new letting team; Louise Rankin, Pauline Mowat and Emma Dick.

Louise is the Lettings Manager for Edinburgh office. She has a proven track record for more than 5 years as Lettings Manager and successfully managed a team of six on her previous employment. She will take control of the day to day running of the office. She will conduct market appraisal and provide practical solutions to landlords with regards to achieving a prompt let to keep void periods to a minimum. She will provide advice to landlord and make sure that landlord and property is compliant to current legislations. She will conduct viewings and make sure prospective tenants are matched to the appropriate property type according to their personal needs. She is highly motivated and very enthusiastic to carry out her duties, meet landlords and tenants.

Pauline is the Property Manager for Edinburgh Office. She has more than three years experience in property management and maintenance. She will deal with general maintenance issues promptly with relation to the existing managed portfolio. She will ensure that all gas and electric safety inspections and regular property visits are completed on time. She is very helpful, competent, and has demonstraded high standard of professionalism and efficiency in dealing with landlords and tenants.

Emma works part time. She is a qualified Paralegal and works with as Estate Agent next door. She handles the accounting system of the office. However, she can also do property valuation and viewings, signing in and out of tenants and other administrative duties.

Franchisee of the Year- Runners Up Award

Iain & Nora Sinclair are Managing Director and Director of Cupar, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Fife and Edinburgh offices of the UK’s leading specialist lettings agent Martin & Co, have plenty to celebrate after they were named runners up of a top award at the company’s AGM.

Up against stiff competition from right across Martin & Co’s 130+ nationwide network, Iain & Nora were named runners up in the Franchisees of the Year category for consistently achieving a high average number of first lets per month during 2007. They were also named runners up on three other categories including Best Mature Office award and Best Financial Turnover.

They were presented with their award by the company’s founder and chairman, Richard Martin, at a glittering award ceremony held at the luxury Bosworth Hall Hotel in Warwickshire on Saturday, 26th April 2008.

Nora said: “We are absolutely delighted. This award is a tribute to all the hard work that everyone in the office have put in over the past year, and an achievement they can all be very proud of indeed.”

She added, “At heart, successful lettings is all about people, and this award once again proves that at Martin & Co (Fife) we have some of the very best people in the business!”

EDINBURGH EXPANSION FOR MARTIN & CO

FAST growing lettings specialists Martin & Co are building on the success of their offices in Cupar, Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline, Fife by expanding operations into Edinburgh.

Franchisee and Managing Director, Iain Sinclair said he was delighted to be adding the Edinburgh office to his business in the other three areas.
