Martin & Co quenching the summer thirst for properties
LEADING Banbury lettings company Martin & Co has launched a summer campaign to find more “desperately needed” rental properties in the local area. The supply of homes for rent is being vastly outstripped by demand from tenants, says Barry Pletts, Lettings Negotiator.
“The demand for all types of property in the Banbury area is always high but this year in particular, there’s an urgent need for more landlords and properties.” Says Linda Stevens, Franchisee.
She added: “Bang in the middle of the M40 corridor with great rail links to Birmingham and London, Banbury is obviously a very attractive place to live; but there are added pressures on housing demand created by the town’s vibrant economy, the current economic climate in terms of the credit squeeze making mortgages more difficult to obtain and the media frenzy with regards to falling house prices making it more difficult for sellers to sell.”
“The demand for rented properties remains insatiable in the Banbury area and we really need potential landlords to come forward to help us meet it.” Said Barry Pletts “the most sought after homes are currently 2/3 bed, unfurnished properties with small low maintenance garden and parking or garage however, we are seeing an increasing demand for the larger 4 bed properties as the sales market slows.”
“Key areas include Hanwell Fields, Cherwell Heights and areas in the catchment areas of the schools”. He said the majority of Martin & Co’s applicants were families and professional couples. And he reminded those looking to invest in rented property to speak to a letting agent first – even before a legal or financial adviser.
